Associate Professor of Medical Genetics, University of Padova
Dr. Salviati received his MD degree cum Laude from the University of Padova in 1995. He completed his residency in Pediatrics in 1999. From 1999 to 2002 he worked as a post-doctoral research fellow in the laboratory of Billi Di Mauro at the Houston-Merritt Center for Inherited Myopathies and Mitochondrial Diseases at the Dept. of Neurology, Columbia University, New York. He focused his research on mitochondrial disorders in particular on the biogenesis of Cytochrome c Oxidase. He received a PhD in Developmental Biology from the University of Padova in 2004. In 2005 he was appointed assistant professor of Medical Genetics at the University of Padova. In 2014 he became associate professor of Medical Genetics. Since 2015 he is the director of the Medical Genetics Residency program, and the scientific director of the Pinali Medical Library of the University of Padova. He is also the supervisor of the molecular diagnostics laboratory.
He has started his own research group in 2005 focusing on mitochondrial and neurometabolic disorders, with particular focus on Coenzyme Q deficiency. The group has joined the IRP since the end of 2013.
He is the recepieant of national and international grants for more than 2M €.
Overall, he has co-authored 121 peer-reviewed articles with more than 4000 citations and an h-index of 35 (Scopus May 2018). Total impact factor is over 680 points (ISI 2016).
