Prof. Dario Gregori is Full Professor and Chair of Medical Statistics at the University of Padua School of Medicine (since 2017). He directs the Unit of Biostatistics, Epidemiology and Public Health (UBEP) and the Service of Clinical Trials and Biometrics, providing end-to-end support for investigator-driven and sponsored studies. Since 2024, he has served as Director of the PhD Program in Experimental and Translational Medicine “G.B. Morgagni”, and he also leads postgraduate training in medical statistics/biometrics and the Master in Advanced Biostatistics. His academic career includes faculty positions at the University of Padua and the University of Torino, following earlier roles at the University of Trieste and in risk modeling at Pennsylvania State University. He holds an MA in Statistics (Penn State) and a PhD in Applied Statistics (University of Florence). His research spans biostatistics and clinical epidemiology, clinical trials methodology, risk analysis, and AI/machine learning applications in health and food safety. He has authored more than 750 scientific articles, with an h-index of 56. He is a Fellow of The Obesity Society and the American College of Nutrition, and an active member of multiple international scientific societies. His contributions have been recognized with awards from, among others, the Royal Statistical Society and the American Statistical Association. He was a member of the Italian Ministry of Health’s National Council for Food Safety (2018–2021) as an expert in risk analysis. He has led major national and international programs, including the long-running SUSY SAFE choking-injury surveillance initiative and large methodological service contracts with EFSA and ECDC. Current leadership includes ARCHANGEL (AI and federated learning for biomedical research), ESTS (thoracic surgery), and statistical management for the IASLC 10th-edition lung cancer staging project.
