Prof. Vincenzo Tarzia is a cardiac surgeon and Associate Professor at the University of Padua, where he specializes in advanced heart failure, mechanical circulatory support, and heart transplantation. He served as a senior consultant and the Substitute Director of Cardiac Surgery at Padua University Hospital, he also holds vital leadership positions as the Director of the Cardiac Surgery residency program (2025–2029) and Director of the master’s programs on “New Health Technology Assesments” and “Terapia dello scompenso Cardiaco Avanzato con Sistemi di Assistenza Meccanica al Circolo (TESEO)”.
His educational background includes an MD, a specialization in cardiac surgery, and a PhD in cardiovascular sciences, culminating in a national qualification as a Professor with National Scientific Qualification (ASN) to become a Full Professor.
Beyond his clinical and academic roles, he is recognized for his expertise in the AngioVac system and ECLS, his involvement in international research and innovation, and his leadership roles within the Italian Society of Cardiac Surgery (SICCH) and the Italian Society of Organ Transplantation (SITO). Currently he is leading the CARE-MED research group activities at I.R.P.
